CIRCULAR ON LOST AND FOUND ITEMSISSUED BY DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM AND COMMERCE AND MARKETING GOVERNMENT OF DUBAI REF : LM4/D/000/158/108 DATED 19TH FEFRUARY

Procedures of Found Items at Hotel Establishments.
Reference is made to our circular dated 10th June 2007 as regards to the above. Please note that the General Department of Criminal Investigation of Dubai Police has informed us of the following.
1. Hotel establishments must abide by the following procedures.
a. Inform the nearest Police station or the Operations Room at the following Numbers 04-2694848
or 04-6095555 in case of finding the following.
-Suspicious or banned substances
-Large amount of money or valuable jewelries.
b. Handover precious items found after six months of finding it to the nearest Police Station. Items must be recorded in the hotels log for police inspectio (For example money, gold, jewelries, watches, phones, electronic devices and accessories)
c. After six months of keeping found items at the hotel establishment, they should transferred to the nearest Police station with a detailed record approved by the hotel management. Accordingly the Police would take the necessary action.
d. In case the guest claimed his found items after the set period (6 months). He Has to go personally to the Police Station where his items were delivered. The Police station will keep the items for 3 months. The hotel establishment should provide the guest with a letter which states the items found reference number and the date of delivering them to the police station.
e. used items such as food and personal care should be disposed immediately by the hotel management once found, as they might be contaminated and could be dangerous to others.
f. Hotel establishments must inform their guests about the lost and found policy through publications in addition to the hotel website, so that the guest may know the course of action the hotel e establishment would take.
2. For coordination Hotel establishment should contact Lost and Found section according to the attached contact list.
